Chair and Side Table Makeover

I love spray paint!!  Especially Rustoleum's Heirloom White! (Who doesn't, right?)  I went through 3 cans today and I got so many fun little projects done ~ lots of little frames and a cute tray.  I also finished these two bigger redo's.

This little table has been passed around from me to daughter #2, who sold it for $5 to daughter #1 who was purging and asked if I wanted it back before she hauled it to Goodwill.  I almost said no, but she talked me into taking it back.  She's good at talking me into things, LOL.  Thanks, Jayme!  I am so glad I took it!

I came across the chair one day at Goodwill and it was a half-price item so I grabbed it for $10.  I knew it had potential and I really need some extra seating in my family room.  Here it is in it former 'unglory'.

Getting the seat off was a chore but I finally did it and since we actually had some sun today I was able to get both pieces painted pretty quickly.

And any time I can add a little more toile into my decor I am a happy girl!

French Country Book Bundle

And ... I'm back! In case you noticed, I dropped out of the blogosphere for a while due to some health issues and a short stay in the hospital. Thanking the Lord that everything turned out okay, except the huge bill I'm afraid I'll be seeing!

I am so happy to get back to the fun of creating and blogging! I have been smitten with those charming coverless book bundles all around blogland and in the magazines. So I ripped the covers off a couple of old books (I did feel a bit guilty doing it!) and got to work.

I found a charming vintage French postcard at The Graphics Fairy that I printed out on heavy cardstock.  The vintage ticket embellishment, coin and doily are all from my stash of vintage goodies.  Here is the finished project:

Clockworks!

Last week my friend Amanda from Reloved Rubbish asked me to design a clock face for a project she was doing.  I had transformed an old clock for my home back in September (you can find that post here ) and I was so excited to be asked to create a design for her.

Amanda is an extremely creative person and her projects always inspire me so much!  Be sure to visit her blog and see the gorgeous finished project.

More Vinyl Decor Projects

I am having a love affair with the French language! It's so fun to play around with words and script and I have put them on pillows, plates, signs... such a beautiful language.

The other night Maddy came in my office while I was working and listening to music on my playlist, (La Vie En Rose). She said "Why are you listening to that music in French?" I said because I like it. She then says "But how do you know they're not saying bad words?" LOL, I had to assure her it was a nice song. Kids her age (12) see things in such black and white.

Just wanted to share a couple of quickie projects I did the other night with my Cricut and some vinyl scraps. I love the SCAL software, which I blogged about here .

The first is a little green plate with, you guessed it, FRENCH words!

Then just a fun little coaster made on a tile.  Super easy and quick and so many possibilities~ a monogram, seasonal images ...  the SCAL software lets you cut any font or dingbat on your computer.  I have also found tons of free SVG files that you can cut.  The other night I googled SVG Eiffel Tower and found several to download and cut.

Thanks for stopping by!  Come back soon, I am almost ready to share the darling little side table I have madeover in Heirloom White.  She's a cutie!

Family Room Makeover

A year ago my family room was cottage, shabby chic décor~ heavy on the white with accents of soft pink and green.  And I loved it.  Pink is one of my favorite colors.  But I was ready for a change and I finally took the plunge to go over to a more French Country~Cottage look.  I got rid of all the pink and started adding in lots more white with black and green accents.

It has been a work in progress and I have had so much fun adding new finds from thrifting and creating.  The biggest step though was the paint.  I have white wainscoting and the previous owners had topped it with a soft almond color.  It worked with my shabby look but as I added more and more white, I knew I needed some color to make the white pieces ‘pop’.  So for months I’ve been looking at paint chips and trying to find the perfect green.  I finally settled on Frosted Pine at Lowe’s.

Here is a sneak peak of one wall and I’ll add more pics later when I am ready for the reveal.
